Larkeicus appears, revealing he created the tower to reach the point in space where the catastrophe, a magical explosion which caused nearly all crystals to vanish, will take place. In the ruins, the Hero finds a Yuke who battles the Hero as the boss due to a reaction with the Hero's crystal. This breakthrough in gaming connectivity allows players on both Nintendo platforms to journey together in the fantastical world of the beloved Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series. In Japan, the Wii version of the game contained a special trailer for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. The Hero's party goes into battle with him. Upon returning to the village, the protagonist learns one of the villagers has fallen ill with "crystal sickness". Looking around the Hero finds the entire village deserted except for himself and the young Yuke, Norschtalen. Sherlotta eventually revives in her original body, creating a Crystal Core and revealing it is the same as the one in the Village; being forged from her own will, it harms Larkeicus and defies his technology.

The game is directed by Mitsuru Kamiyama who previously directed Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates. Each window has a maximum size that is approximately 40% of the total screen which can make the text (on both the play and item windows) difficult to read, however players can use + (make the main screen larger, sub screen smaller) and—(make the sub-screen larger, main screen smaller) buttons on the Wii Remote to adjust the screen size, and pressing both + and—at the same time swaps the two screens. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time The protagonist works with Sherlotta and Veriaulde, a former ally of Larkeicus from 2000 years before, giving the protagonist the means of recovering the Crystal Core's fragments and restoring the village. Sherlotta, tired and on the verge of fainting, promptly leaves the Crystal Staff (and the Undead Princess) in the rock. Players can continue to enjoy the game even after completing the main adventure, as the New Game+ feature provides increased difficulty and better items with every new round.
Larkeicus building the tower ensured the Crystal Core's creation and death of the crystals in his time, creating a stable time loop. Single player, Multiplayer Some combat is featured while swimming too. Inside the massive library s/he finds Larkeicus, who says he knows the cure for crystal sickness, but needs a Buffasaur horn to complete the antidote. Music is composed by Kumi Tanioka who has composed all music for previous Crystal Chronicles games. That night the ruins activate, and as Larkeicus stands at the Gate, two beams from the two mountain's ruins fire in to the sides of the gate, and a portal activates in the gateway.
