After spending a full week on this amazing island, we can only conclude one thing: Koh Chang is an amazing beach destination for everyone! Ao Phrao Beach is the final spot at this south west end of the island. Hotels, restaurants, souvenirs shops, tattooists, beachwear shops, tour agents and tailors shops line the main road. On the beach there are only three resorts – so it’s very exclusive and private. There’s not a lot in this  beautiful, undeveloped mangrove lined bay in the south east of the island – and that’s the attraction. Beaches. On Lonely Beach there are many monkeys who will rummage in your bag when you aren’t looking – so keep an eye on your possessions! There are deckchairs on the sand, but this isn’t a White Sand beach vibe. That is definitely changing rapidly now. What makes Kai Bae stand out from other beaches are the gorgeous views of many of the neighbouring islands such as Koh Man Nok, Koh Man Nai, Koh Pli and Koh Yuak.

Among its many restaurants, several at Tonsai, Kati Culinary and Iyara Seafood are of the highest quality, but its nightlife is more low key. Other scattered local communities complete the picture. It’s even possible to have a good night out without having to head to Lonely Beach. If you’re not interested just refuse politely. The resorts, Bann Makok, nestled in the mangroves and Captain Hook, accessible by sea only, are downstream from the waterfall itself. This bay lies on the east coast of the island, opposite to all the island's main beaches in the west coast. The tranquil atmosphere is suitable for those seeking a quiet holiday with more comfort yet not too far from the mainstream. Check out the ever growing, bohemian scene on Klong Kloi, the island's southernmost beach. It’s not  a touristy area.

Koh Chang’s beaches all cater to a different type of visitor. With a great stretch of sand, White Sand Beach is the most touristy of the Koh Chang beaches. You will also find backpacker bungalows, guesthouses and homestays.

Rent a kayak and paddle for 15-20 minutes to the opposite, uninhabited island of Koh Man Nai. If you have a tense feeling, lots of small massage huts are lined up at the beach offering traditional Thai massage and foot treatments. The small beach of Ban Laem Thakian is located at the pier in the northeast, and is different from all the other beaches on Koh Chang. Kai Bae Beach. This rapidly developing beach area on the south coast of Koh Chang has, to my mind, more of a southern Thai island feel to it.
